Kometos enters the Greek market – A new step in international growth
Greece’s ready meal market is experiencing strong growth, with the food industry now focusing on improving production efficiency and modernization. In response to this demand, Kometos is delivering a dosing line to a new client in collaboration with a local agent. At the same time, the company is expanding its representation in Southeast Europe.
Growing demand for ready meals
In recent years, Greece’s ready meal industry has seen a significant upward trend. While traditional food culture remains central, especially in families and small tavernas, modern lifestyles, urbanization, and time constraints have fueled the demand for convenient meal solutions. Younger generations and working consumers in major cities are increasingly seeking quick, easy, and healthy food options.
The Greek ready meal market has returned to a steady growth path following the pandemic. Segments such as ready-to-eat meals, frozen dinners, and heat-and-serve dishes have grown in popularity. The sector’s annual value now exceeds €300 million, with yearly growth rates between 5% and 7%.
The rise of tourism is also boosting demand in the food service sector, placing additional pressure on production capacity. As a result, many Greek food producers are investing in automation and efficiency upgrades.
Kometos’ dosing line meets market needs
The delivery to Greece includes a complete dosing line that enables the client to scale up production both efficiently and cost-effectively. This investment supports the client’s strategy to expand production capacity in response to growing demand, particularly within the premium ready meal segment.
The line includes a versatile setup designed to accelerate the production of ready meals and salads. It features a tray denester, two dosing units – a volume-based dosing unit for solids and a liquid dosing unit – along with conveyor belts and a screw-based elevator conveyor.
The system is tailored for preparing a variety of salads and meal bases. It allows precise dosing of carbohydrates such as rice and potatoes, as well as proteins like beans. Liquid ingredients such as tomato sauce or pesto are added with high accuracy via the liquid dosing unit. The line ensures hygienic and flexible production, combining efficiency with precision in handling diverse ingredients.
